Editorial: You have blessed us
Many of you added notes of encouragement to your contributions, and we’re so thankful for that. One reader simply wrote, “You make a difference!” How powerful and humbling!
Notes of encouragement from readers, posted in the offices of The Christian Chronicle.
In the June issue I explained the Chronicle’s need for $50,000 to make up a deficit in the operating budget. As of this printing you have given $72,566 and for that we are deeply appreciative.
This is the first time in 21 years that I have had to ask for money to end a fiscal operating year in the black. For those many years, the Lord’s blessing, your giving and good management have resulted in positive ending balances. But things changed this past year, and you have responded generously.
Lynn McMillonPartnership in Christian ministry is a great blessing. All of us at the Chronicle, our Board of Trustees, writers and administrative assistants see our work as a ministry to inform, inspire and keep Churches of Christ connected. Our autonomous structure challenges all of us to stay informed and to know each other.
We believe that this paper meets that need. However, it costs a great deal of money to produce a quality publication written by professional Christian journalists.
Your inspiring responses are helping us close the gap in our budget. I truly do not like to ask for funds beyond what you have already given, but this year it was needed.
With sincerest thanks,
Lynn McMillon, President, CEO
