Texas flood victims receive food, mattresses from disaster relief ministry

The El Paso Times in Texas reports:
SOCORRO — They didn’t know where it came from. And many heard the news through neighbors. But more than a hundred families in Socorro affected by the flooding in September benefited from the benevolence of Montwood Church of Christ on Monday morning.
The families pulled up trucks to a city-owned warehouse off Vineyard to load up mattresses, boxes of food and bottled water from the hands of the East Side church members.
Minister James Jones Jr. told the newspaper that the congregation received items through Nashville, Tenn.-based Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort:
“We had food, water, cleaning supplies, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows and mops and brooms. And we had about 60 queen mattresses, 30 full mattresses and 10 single mattresses and box springs that we unloaded this morning,” Jones said.
