Spotlight: She knows what she wants
KHON KAEN, THAILAND — When Parker Henderson visited Kim and Rebecca Voraritskul in Thailand recently, the longtime missionary to the island of Trinidad tried to play matchmaker. He showed pictures of his 13-year-old grandson to MookDa, the Voraritskuls’ 11-year-old daughter, but she seemed uninterested.
That evening, MookDa typed Henderson a letter, listing 12 attributes of “the kind of man I require.” He must be a Christian, intelligent and not lazy. He must read the Bible every day and enjoy singing. She emphasized the need for a man who has good character traits.
Her mom shared the letter with MookDa’s grandmother in Alabama, who said her granddaughter had a “clear concept of what all Christian youth should know in order to marry well and have a happy life.”
The letter had a P.S.: “Don’t forget the dowry. Papa wants five-million baht (roughly $134,000).”
