Whenthe congregation moved to its present location in 1989, the 10-acre property itpurchased was a bird sanctuary. To ease concerns by a local bird society, thechurch agreed to cut down only the number of trees needed to allow space forits building and parking lot, minister Bob Cowles said.
In2003, member Vernon Reedy and others decided to construct the walking trailaround the perimeter, with verses carved into wood along the route.
“There’sabout 1,000 feet of trail now,” Reedy told the Knoxville News Sentinel. “Andthere’s still room to add a couple of more loops.”
