Snowbirds enjoy ‘Spiritual Feasting’ in Arizona
QUARTZSITE, Ariz. — In the winter, this tourist hotspot draws thousands of RV campers.
As temperatures cool, the Church of Christ — which has only a few members in the summer — swells with snowbirds.
The final day of the church’s recent “Eight Days of Spiritual Feasting” gospel meeting drew 107 people, said Gerald R. Molzahn, a snowbird and member of the Worland Church of Christ in Wyoming.
“This outstanding attendance can be attributed to the hard work of the winter members,” Molzahn said. “Several members knocked on doors and personally invited town residents as well as handing them printed invitations.”
A sign announcing the meeting was mounted on a utility trailer that members parked at various locations and entered in a local parade.
In addition, a colorful banner advertising the event was towed behind a member’s ultralight aircraft that circled the area.
“Feed My Sheep” was the meeting’s theme. The eight speakers drew lessons from 1 Peter and 2 Peter.
