‘Puttering around’ at OVU

VIENNA, W.VA. — Sue “Goldie” Goldcamp has redefined “puttering around” in retirement. At age 52, Goldcamp joined the Ohio Valley University women’s golf team.
“I’m just as surprised as anyone to be part of the team,” Goldcamp said.
She took up intercollegiate golf after visiting with head coach Amy Colgrove this past summer.
“I found myself one player short late in the summer for the college’s team and kind of joked about recruiting her to play for the Fighting Scots,” Colgrove said.
Goldcamp earned a degree in the 1970s from the University of Charleston, where she played basketball and softball.
“I had a semester of eligibility available still and so here I am,” she said. “I’ve always been interested in taking additional education courses, and this was a unique opportunity to play a sport that I love.”
