Cliff Holladay, a Maryland minister paralyzed in a beach accident last year, has died. He was 62.
Holladay, who preached for the Westside Church of Christ in Baltimore, was featured in a Christian Chronicle story earlier this year.
“He inspired many of us with his determination following his accident,” said Steve Mahoney, minister for the Newark Church of Christ in Delaware.
Holladay died this afternoon at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Md., reported Alan Deckard, an elder of the Westside Church of Christ. His wife, Becky, and son, Caleb, were with him.
“Let’s keep praying for Becky and Caleb and reach out to them over the days to come to help them through this time of loss,” Deckard wrote in an e-mail to church members.
The church earlier established a special needs trust fund to help the family:

Cliff Holladay Family Fund
P.O. Box 21085
Catonsville, MD 21228

Gifts may be sent directly to the trust (not tax deductible) or through a church (tax deductible).

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers today and in the coming days! I am very sorry for your loss of loving husband and father of your children. May God give you peace and comfort the same as He has given me during my time of loss of my wife two years ago. Be assured that you are loved by many people who know you and your family!

Our hearts go out to the Holladay family and friends. And, we also express our condolences to brother Holladay’s spiritual family, the Westside Church of Christ on Johnnycake Road. We were a part of that congregation for five years. I was their preacher from June, 1978 to June, 1983. We will continue to pray for all of you.

    Dear Becky and Caleb.
Many times you, Caleb and Cliff have been in our thoughts and prayers over the last months of his life. We know God heard our prayers. He knew what was best for all of you. Cliff is now at peace with the God he loved so dearly and we all look forward to seeing him again. That is something that you can always know in your saddest moments. That you will meet again.
We love you and pray that God will give you strength and peace as you go on. We are here if you need anything.
    Much love in Christ,
