New and Noteworthy — April 2010

Mark W. Hamilton. On the Mountain With God: Freedom and Community in Exodus. Abilene, Texas: Leafwood, 2009. 135 pages. $11.04
Hamilton, who teaches Old Testament at Abilene Christian University, uses the book of Exodus to answer contemporary questions about God.
Each of the seven chapters takes up a set of passages from the book that explores one aspect of the divine being.
In addition to being a serious study of Exodus, the volume includes sometimes humorous “dialogues” between the author and the reader over an issue raised in the chapter. Boxes scattered throughout the book supply background information while questions at the end make the book useful for groups.

Well, I am biased, but this little book has been a huge blessings in the devotional life of my family. Dr. Hamilton has given us all a gift.
