Milestone: Richard and Mabel Taylor, 66th Anniversary
Richard Neale and Mabel (Perry) Taylor of Florence, Ala., celebrated their 66th anniversary on Sept. 1, 2014. After serving in the Navy in WW II, Richard, who was from near Lubbock, Texas, attended Harding College on the GI Bill, and there he met Mabel Perry from Ontario, Canada, in 1946. They married in 1948, and both finished at Harding in 1949.

Upon graduating, Richard and Mabel moved to Florence, Ala., where Richard taught for 32 years at Mars Hill Bible School and Mabel was the librarian there for 20 years. During that time, they took a leave of absence for six years and helped strengthen the congregation in Williamsburg, Va., in the early 1960s. They both received their masters’ degrees from the University of North Alabama in Florence in 1979. Richard has preached since 1949 in various congregations, and they have worked with Bible Correspondence Courses, Christian camps, children’s homes, and fundraising for missions in Thailand — Richard has made 14 mission trips there.
Richard and Mabel are grateful to the Lord for their three sons and their families: Richard Jr. and Janis of Henderson, Tenn., Perry and Karen of Florence, Ala., and Bruce and Debby of Atlanta, Ga., seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
