Marilyn A. Fletcher, Memorial
Marilyn was a graduate of the University of Denver, where she majored in elementary education and piano. She was an elementary school teacher for more than 20 years teaching in the San Diego City and Lakeside Union school districts.
She was an active member, education coordinator and teacher for the El Cajon Boulevard Church of Christ in San Diego for many years. She was also a teacher for World Bible School, corresponding with adult students from all over the globe for many years. She was a longtime member of the Associated Women for Pepperdine University and of the San Diego Christian Foundation. Her passions included Bible study, classical and folk music, hymns, great literature and good works.
Mrs. Fletcher is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Alston (Roy) of Framingham, Mass., and Julia Lando (Robert) of Avon, Ohio; two granddaughters, Rebekah and Rachel Lando; and by one brother, Dr. Harold Higginbottom (Patricia) of Wilbraham, Mass. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, W. L. Fletcher III in 2014, and by her parents, Powell and Jettie Higginbottom. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the San Diego Christian Foundation.
