Gordon and Bert Rampy, 60th Anniversary
On the occasion of our parents’ 60th anniversary, we want them to know their life together has been an example we always carry with us. How blessed we are to have daily witnessed in ways large and small the totality of their commitment to each other. We have heard each describe the other as a tower of strength. Likewise, they together have been ours.
We appreciate the ease with which they have always – always – shown affection to each other. It was easy to look past all the hugging and kissing we saw as youngsters because that’s just how things were. Now, as older men and husbands, we know such behavior to be evidence of a healthy, happy marriage. What a good feeling we have been privileged to see, and in such abundance!

We have also observed and been profoundly influenced by the bedrock principle around which they’ve ordered their lives: their unwavering commitment to God and his Son. They have shown it and continue to do so through their productive faithfulness. Joined by and to the Lord, theirs is a cord of three strands that has long held fast.
Our parents have chosen every day for longer than we have been alive to honor God with every aspect of their lives. Consider the familiar lines we have taken liberty to paraphrase: “Hear, O friends – The Lord our God, the Lord is one. We honor our parents who have loved the Lord with all their heart, soul and strength. The commandments He has given they have kept on their hearts. They impressed them on us during our younger days, and they have never ceased to do so even through the many years we’ve spent apart.”
It is with great pride and humility that we acknowledge our parents to be the finest examples of Christ and his Father’s love that we know. This is their greatest gift to us, and we are forever grateful.
