Georgia church reaches out to students
NORCROSS, GA — The first National College Conference, sponsored by the Greenbriar church, Atlanta, drew more than 50 students from across the nation, organizers said.
The theme of the recent event at Simpsonwood Conference Center was “Higher Power for Higher Learning,” using 2 Timothy 1:7 as the theme Scripture, said Shoi Smith, an Emory University student.
Topics addressed included ‘The Christian’s Response to Hip-Hop,’ ‘Using Your Degree for God’ and ‘Borrowed Faith: A College Epidemic.’ A gender-split session addressed ‘Winning the War on Sex.’
“From start tofinish, the weekend was packed with activities, including icebreakers, devotionals, workshops and a banquet,” Smith said. “In fact, the level of focusand desire that the students had for learning more about God’s will for theirlives was impressive.”
