York online program accredited
YORK, Neb. — Students can earn a full degree from York College from the convenience of their home.
The Higher Learning Commission has approved accreditation for York to offer degrees online. Previously, York’s accreditation was limited to degree completion for former York students.
In spring 2013, the college will begin offering a bachelor’s of business with an emphasis in health-care information management. In summer 2013, a bachelor’s of science in criminal justice will be added, academic dean Tracey Wyatt said.
“The addition of online programs will expand the reach of York College’s mission to transform lives through Christ-centered education and to equip students for lifelong service to God, family and society,” Wyatt said.
Online classes are taught by Christian faculty members, and lessons include spiritual content no matter what the subject, said Lisa Cantrell Menke, director of online learning. Cantrell Menke said online classes continue to evolve as faculty members strive to move the on-campus experience online.
