Worship leaders ‘Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good’ in Brazil
Christians from across the South American nation of Brazil got some intense musical training and coaching in worship leading recently, says a cappella “musicianary” Keith Lancaster.
The founder of the singing group Acappella and member of the Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa blogs about the experience and includes a video of the worship leaders singing “Give Thanks to the Lord (For He is Good)” by John K. Green in Portuguese — “Dai Grac?as a Deus.”
“Musical education is pretty much non-existent in the Brazilian public school system,” Lancaster says, “so musical literacy is uncommon.
“Having traveled quite extensively, I’m amazed by the diversity within one country. From Curitiba (reminding me of Europe) to Manaus (deep in the heart of the Amazon rain forest), the people are so diverse,” he says. “It’s very rewarding to be part of this unique opportunity to bring key leaders of the church together for unsurpassed training — including instruction from doctoral candidates Jules Cseszko (Australia) and Mike Rogers (Arlington, Texas.)”
Missionary mentors Jerry and Gail Heiderich “have been essential to this process,” he adds.
