World’s largest Bible housed at ACU

Gracie Gibson views what is described as the world’s largest Bible. The King James Bible measures 43.5 inches tall by 98 inches wide. It is housed at the Abilene Christian University library in Texas. (Photo by Grant Rampy)
With our recent story on the most-popular Bible translations among members of Churches of Christ, we included a photo of a student examining the “world’s largest Bible” at Abilene Christian University in Texas.
A reader wrote to say that he liked the story but wished that we had included more details about “that big Bible.”

FeedbackJ. Willard Morrow, my uncle, purchased this bible from a man in California prior to WWII. It was brought to Fort Worth, Texas by the railroad. It was housed for many years at the old Rosen Heights Church of Christ in Fort Worth and many couples were married in front of the bible. This bible was presented to Abilene Christian in hopes that the college would always stay true to the teachings contained in God’s Word.James VinzantMarch, 4 2011Interesting. Thanks for sharing that, James. We’re all praying for Don!Bobby Ross Jr.March, 4 2011As a teen-ager,I have been there in that Auditouium a number of times
and “touched” that Bible, of course after hearing Willard preach.Arles Vandiver, Min.March, 9 2011Further support for what my cousin, James Vinzant said over a year ago. Willard Morrow was my great-uncle.

There is actually a video of how the extra large Bible was printed here. http://mysavior.info/article/394. The Bible seems to be larger in the picture and the video on the links I attached than the picture of the Bible at ACU. I definitely think there was some creative photography done on the first picture with Willard beside the Bible.Ted NortonMarch, 27 2012
