Voices only: VBS music video edition
Welcome to Voices only, where we scour the web to…
Welcome to our Vacation Bible School edition of Voices-only Wednesday.
Children who attended VBS at the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City were treated to stage plays (including a choreographed “spit take” or two — go to the 2:10 mark in this video) of the life of Queen Esther from the Old Testament.
They also saw videos of a cappella versions of popular songs with Bible-based lyrics. (And every kid got a CD of the songs on the last day.)
Here’s the crowd favorite, “Roar.”
(Yes, I realize that some of you may object to the source material here. So, before posting a “shame on you” comment, please consider this: My 6-year-old daughter already was singing this song, despite the fact that we listen exclusively to KLOVE, NPR and CDs with Disney princess songs and VeggieTales. Now, the VBS version of the song is the one she’s singing.)
If Katy Perry’s not your speed and you’re more of a classic rock guy (like me) take a gander at this VBS song — a tribute to Journey (or the TV show “Glee,” depending on your age).
