Voices-only Wednesday: ‘Revelation Song,’ more ‘Oceans’ and ‘Who is Gonna Tell the Child’
A couple of weeks ago I shared my frustration at my inability to find a voices-only version of Hillsong United’s “Holy, Holy, Holy.” Within seconds of posting, one of our readers pointed me to this version by Zoe Group. (Turns out I had the song’s name wrong. This is “Revelation Song.” In my defense, those words don’t appear in the lyrics.)
(Update: A reader just clarified the song’s authorship. “Revelation Song” was written by Jennie Lee Riddle and has been recorded by a number of contemporary Christian artists, including Kari Jobe and Phillips, Craig & Dean.)
I also shared my frustration (there was a lot of frustration a couple of weeks ago, evidently) at my inability to find a good a cappella rendition of Hillsong’s “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail).” Jerry Maday, a member of the Worcester County Church of Christ in Massachusetts (one of the International Churches of Christ) shared an a cappella arrangement he did for a recent ladies’ breakfast. And he was kind enough to post this video. Thanks Jerry!
If you’d like to give this version of “Oceans” a try, Jerry’s even provided a link to the sheet music. Awesome!
Finally, here’s a live video posted by Keith Lancater of the “classic” Acappella lineup doing the equally classic “Who is Gonna Tell the Child” in Ohio.
And here’s the contemporary Acappella lineup rehearsing the song last year in Dallas.
Post links below of your favorite a cappella videos for future installments of Voices-only Wednesday. Or email us.
