This weekly online feature highlights the best a cappella videos that come across our eyes — and ears — on the web.
This week we take you behind the scenes during the recording session for Praise and Harmony’s “Exalted God” CD. The release is set for this fall.
About 170 participants from across the nation gathered on June 23-26 at the Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas. Keith Lancaster tells us the singers came from all over the country and included a pregnant vocalist, who gave birth to a baby girl six days after the session ended, and the original voice of Barney the dinosaur. The singers were chosen through an audition process. They were given the sheet music and practice tracks several weeks ahead of time so they would be ready for the recording session.
Candace Miller, centered and in a green t-shirt, used a blue, wet rag to stay cool while the air conditioning was turned off for recording. Photo provided by Keith Lancaster.
To produce near-perfect recordings the crew turned off all of the air conditioners to prevent any background noise. Despite three-days of practicing and recording with no air conditioning, in Texas, volunteers were excited to give their testimonies about the opportunity to be a part of the latest CD.
