Voices-only Wednesday: ‘Oceans,’ ‘Open the Eyes of My Heart,’ ‘Cornerstone’ and ‘Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts’
This morning I was on a quest to find a voices-only version (worthy of your ears, dear listeners) of Hillsong United’s “Holy, Holy, Holy.” This is not the traditional version we sing at church, but the one that goes “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty, who was, and is and is to come … “
Alas, my quest failed. If anyone has a link to a good a cappella version of that song, please email me.
I did, however, find LOTS of a cappella covers of Hillsong’s “Oceans” — very few of which seemed worthy of posting here. (That is a VERY difficult song to master, evidently, but it didn’t keep folks from trying … and trying, and trying, and trying.)
Honestly, this “video selfie” by Rachel Halbach is probably my favorite of the bunch.
Tell me what you think.
During my search I came across this song, titled “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Hosts” by a group called Acts II. Not much of a video, but nice song …
I also found several a cappella version of other Hillsong … uh … songs. (That’s awkward. “Hill-songs” maybe?)
Here’s “Cornerstone” by Nashville, Tenn.-based Zoe Group.
And here’s “At the Cross” by Hallal Worship. (Again, not the version you’re probably thinking of. This is the “I know you love me” version.)
Finally, a cover of Michael W. Smith’s “Open the Eyes of My Heart,” complete with a video still of a hymnal open to … “O Thou Fount of Every Blessing” for some reason.
