Welcome to
Voices-only Wednesday.
This occasional feature highlights the best a cappella videos that come across our eyes — and ears — on the web.
Since we’ll be busy cooking a turkey next week, here’s our early Thanksgiving edition.
First up is the classic devotional song “Give Thanks.” This particular rendition comes from Oregon-based
Heritage Singers. The video’s producer paired the song with some autumnal images and 1960s-era footage — including a trip to grandma’s house, complete with baby kissing.
If this doesn’t get you in the Thanksgiving mood, nothing will.
For a more personal touch, here’s Brooke Jackson’s solo version. (Singing starts about one minute in. Not bad for a webcam recording at 7:17 a.m.)
Here’s another webcam full of thankfulness. I’m not familiar with the song, but the young woman, Ivy, seems plenty sincere.
Finally, here’s an original a cappella tune from a group in Los Angeles — “I Give Thanks.”
The video includes a few example of things for which we should be thankful — and it’s slickly produced. (We expect nothing less from L.A.)
Wherever you are, happy Thanksgiving!
