Bievenido to Voices-only Wednesday, when we scour the web to bring you great a cappella videos.
This week I want to introduce you to the work of Zuriel Rubio. Once a member of the a cappella group Voces, he’s now the worship minister for the Spanish ministry of the Bammel Church of Christ in Houston. Check out his Facebook page, and you’ll find lots of Spanish-language arrangements of contemporary hymns.
The Christian Chronicle is in the midst of a series titled One Nación Under God, a look at reaching Hispanics in the U.S. with the Gospel. We’ve learned a lot reporting on this diverse, growing demographic — including how to make the little marks over the “ó” and “ñ.”
(¡And we love typing sentences with upside-down exclamation points!)
We’d like to do a feature focused on worship in Spanish-language assemblies. What works? What doesn’t? What are the challenges of — and opportunities for — great a cappella singing among Hispanic and multilingual churches? Please email me your thoughts on this or post in the comments.
Meanwhile, here’s Rubio’s arrangement of “Worthy Is The Lamb (Thank You For The Cross)” — “Digno es el Señor”
Worthy is the Lamb | Digno es el Señor. Dios pueda bendecir tu vida hoy a través de este Canto. Bendiciones!
