Voices only: ‘I Just Want to Thank You, Lord’

"For making me whole, saving my sole," I am grateful.

Welcome to Voices only, where we search the internet to bring you great a cappella music.

Here’s Michael Lining’s arrangement of “I Just Want to Thank You, Lord,” written by Robert Deel.

Lately, my heart has overflowed with thankfulness. God has been doing amazing things in my life. He has been providing, guiding, protecting, blessing, teaching, disciplining … the list goes on.

I am so thankful for the love of God. It’s a love that we, human beings, can’t understand. It is so wide, so deep, so big that it surpasses all means we have of measuring it.

  • The love of God is a love that takes action. He sent the best thing to us, his son.
  • His unconditional love is a sacrificial love. His son sacrificed on the cross for us so that we could be redeemed and saved from our sinful nature.
  • He left heaven, abandoned all the comforts and privilege, and took the form of a servant for me and you. How can we understand this love?
  • His love stays. He promised to never abandon us nor forsake us, and Jesus told us to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them. He said “and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Wow! Knowing this, my heart just feels compelled to take a posture of thankfulness and worship to the One who gave his life for me. And throughout my days on earth I want to sing and count the many blessings he has given me  — for my family, for the food that he provides, for clothes and shoes, for the sunrise and the sunset, for the water that flows into the ocean, for the freedoms and victories, for the spiritual community that he gave me, for “making me whole, saving my soul.”

Thank you, Lord!

“Rejoice always, pray continually, Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

What are thankful for today? What has God been doing in your life?

“Give thanks to the Lord, who is good, whose mercy endures forever” (Psalm 106:1)
