Doing good in a divided world
HENDERSON, Tenn. — As story after story of White law…
Henderson, Tenn. — I had a great time at this year’s Freed-Hardeman University lectures. I’m especially thankful to Scott and Amy Sewell for hosting me during my short visit.
Scott’s father, Milton Sewell, is a president emeritus at FHU and serves on The Christian Chronicle’s board of trustees. Milton and his wife, Laurel, had me over for lunch during the lectures and I got to meet Gospel Advocate editor Greg Tidwell and my hero Ben Zickefoose of “Gymnastics to the Glory of God” fame.
In addition to plenty of classic hymns, I heard a new song written just for this year’s lectureship theme. “He Went About Doing Good” is an original hymn by Alan Kinningham, assistant professor of music at FHU. I made sure to get a video of it during my visit. Enjoy!

As a bonus, here’s a snippet of the lectureship attendees singing “His Grace Reaches Me” (Whitey Gleason, 1964).
