Views across generations show marked differences

To help different age groups understand each other and function as a church, James Knapp presents the following graphs at seminars. The results detail differences in views among Seniors (born before 1926), Builders (1927-1945), Boomers (1946-1964), GenXers (1965-1983) and Millennials (1984-2002).
Results are based on survey responses from about 1,000 members of Churches of Christ of various sizes across the U.S

The gap and disagreements are not between GenX and Boomers. If you will notice the graphs you will see that Boomers and GenX and millenals are very close in how they feel. And it is Boomers and GenX and Millenals that are leaving the church. And it’s not hard to see why: If your fighting about things like “wearing a tie to worship” you are going to lose those generations.

I would guess that mostly Gen X-ers are reading this. Also, I would say that beacuse of Gen X-ers and Boomers disagreeing with things so much that the millenials left in the church are ones that share the views that clapping shouldn’t be a choice, people should dress up more, and that prefer a traditional assembly. A decline in number may also bring out less differences among Churches of Christ.

GOD does not care how they feel or what they perfer, HE wants loving action, He wants a Relationship not a Religion. To much focus is on the the symptoms and not the root causes. Worship is about GOD not them. If they come to worship ready to actively help others build a relationship with GOD and a relationship with others then they are there for the right reasons.
