Video: York College honors Sikes family with Legacy Award
At York College’s recent homecoming, the Sikes family was presented with the Legacy Award for its deep impact on the Christian college in Nebraska.
From the York website:
For the past six decades, one family has made a deeper impact on the York College campus than any other. For size and longevity alone, the Sikes family is significant—42 members of the family have attended classes at YC, and many of those also served as faculty or staff over the years.
More important is the family’s contribution to the spiritual life at YC and how they continue to bless the college as ambassadors all around the world.
Many bearing the name of Sikes were campus leaders during their college years. On athletic teams, in choirs, and in clubs, they could be counted on as friends and classmates, known for their good nature and infectious joy.

FeedbackWhat an Awesome, Inspiring, Family of God!!!!! I feel blessed to have known the Sikes family at Westview Boys Home!!!!
I will never forget Shelly washing my hair and Stanton almost giving me a technical foul for losing my temper and throwing the ball down so hard it went almost to the ceiling!!! He should’ve given me one! I will also never forget how I loved to hear all of you sing, and being envious. I remember having a crush on Stewart. He always treated me like one of his sisters, so I decided it was better to have another brother than nothing at all!!! Robbie was my second mom, and I always remember her having time for me, even tho’ she had 13 of her own to give time to, but she always had time for everyone! I only have 4 children and I still can’t figure out how she did it!!!! Thank you for your wonderful influence on me as a young girl, I will never forget any of you!!!Kim (Butler) LemonsNovember, 9 2012
