Video: At 61, America’s oldest college football player gets PAT in Faulkner University rout
We shared news recently on Alan Moore, a 61-year-old Vietnam veteran, taking the field this season with Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala.
al.com provides this update:
And to top off the memorable afternoon, Alan Moore, Faulkner’s 61-year-old placekicker and the oldest-ever college football player, knocked through the Eagles’ first extra point of the season. Starter Thomas Price missed the first point after early in the game and, after a pair of unsuccessful two-point tries, Faulkner head coach Gregg Baker sent out his senior citizen for a try after the fourth touchdown early in the second quarter.
As the Faulkner fans stood and cheered in anticipation, Moore calmly split the uprights, sending the Eagles’ players, coaches and supporters into an in-game celebration not previously seen in Faulkner’s four-plus years of intercollegiate competition.
“It was really exciting for all of us,” Baker said. “As soon as we called Alan’s number to head out there, everybody on the sideline started cheering and getting where they could see it, just in case history was made. And it was. I’m just glad we had the opportunity to make it happen. I’m really happy for Alan. He’s meant a lot to our team.”

FeedbackWay cool! Attaboy Alan! (from one Alan to another 🙂 You get to play for all of us “once-upon-a-timers”!Alan HendersonSeptember, 13 2011CONGRATSCarl DavisSeptember, 15 2011My sixty-four-year-old minister husband has been reffing middle-school and highschool football games for the last four years. He has an artificial knee, 1/4 of a lung missing, a congenitally short left arm and has had rotator cuff surgery. He can be ankle deep in mud, drippping sweat or huffing steam in below freezing weather, but there isn’t any place he would rather be on a Thursday or Friday night.Becky WooleySeptember, 16 2011
