Vermont congregation helps flood victims after Hurricane Irene

The Springfield Church of Christ in Vermont is helping flood victims in nearby towns after Hurricane Irene.
Elder Ernest “Puggy” Lamphere said the 80-member church was pleased to receive a truckload of emergency food boxes, personal care kits and cleaning supplies from Nashville, Tenn.-based Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort.
“We’re still at it,” Lamphere said of distributing the relief items to victims. “We have a lot of roads that are impassable even now in surrounding towns. So we have to get the food out to people who can’t get out to go shop.”
Church volunteers have used ATV’s to deliver supplies to some victims, he said.
“It’s a great effort and a great outreach for the church,” Lamphere said, “and God gets the glory, not us.”
