‘Use the Force, Addie’ — minister’s daughter with cerebral palsy battles Darth Vader

The Force is strong with Addie Heltsley.

A few months ago, the 4-year-old minister’s daughter, who suffers from spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy, won a year’s supply of a special feeding tube formula — thanks in part to online votes from Christian Chronicle readers.
Now she’s taking on a bigger challenge — Darth Vader.

Addie and her family visited Walt Disney World in Florida recently, where she participated in the Jedi Training Academy , part of the “Star Wars” experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

(She did much better, in our opinion, than the little girl who faced Vader and attempted to join the dark side of the Force.)

Her father, Addam, is minister for the Peach Tree Lane Church of Christ in Yuba City, Calif. Read our recent feature about the feeding tube food contest and the family’s faith.
