‘Thank You’ to our dear readers
Like most of you, my parents taught me to say “please” and “thank you” at an early age.
Over the years, though, those words have become much more meaningful to me than just an expected response or socially correct etiquette. Expressions of true gratitude, flowing from my heart, are difficult to stop — and never is this more true than when I’m witnessing the power of God in this world.
Time after time I have been blessed to see and hear of Jesus at work in the hearts of Christians all over the world, offering their spiritual sacrifices to the Lord.
Through this ministry, I have been privileged to catch a glimpse of the transformative power of God’s love as men and women pour out their generosity, compassion and love so that others may be blessed.
Nothing inspires and makes me more appreciative than the opportunity to see God’s mercy and grace reflected in the lives of Christians everywhere.
On behalf of The Christian Chronicle organization and myself, I want to say “Thank you!” Thank you for the many ways you make possible this ministry dedicated to bringing you information and inspiration about other Christians. Thank you for your understanding of our desire to focus on the elements that unite us.
This news ministry is a partnership with you. Your financial donations support the ongoing life and mission of the Chronicle, and we do not forget that reality. The Chronicle would not be possible without you and we are appreciative for your faithful readership and supportive attitude.
Thousands of you send contributions of all sizes to the Chronicle, and we are deeply grateful for your support.
Without your support we would not have the ability to tell the many wonderful and uplifting stories of Christians living their faith, serving God and blessing the world.
And it is a story we love to tell! One of our writers commented, “I can’t believe I get to talk to inspiring Christian people all over the world, tell their great stories and somebody pays me to do it.”
You also write kind and encouraging notes to me and our staff: “You are doing a great job”; “I wish this check could be bigger”; “Keep up the good work”; or “I read the paper from cover to cover as soon as it arrives.” Your words inspire us to try even harder.
As you know, our fellowship is spread widely across this expansive globe. Reaching everyone who would like to read the Chronicle is a mammoth task, but we are committed to that goal by using our print and online publications — both of which are essential to our mission.
Advertising covers about 60 percent of our annual costs, and a small endowment provides another 5 percent, but your donations complete the funds required to research, write, print and mail 1.3 million papers per year and to make current and past stories available via the Internet.
I want to assure you that we take very seriously the responsibility and your trust to be faithful, honest stewards of your gifts. And I encourage you, please, to continue supporting this ministry, or to consider sharing in the financial support of this service in the future if you haven’t already.
So, from me, and from all of us at the Chronicle: writers, staff and trustees, “Thank you from the depths of our hearts!” We will continue to do our best to serve our Lord and you.
