A blurb in the Arlington Citizen-Journal in Texas mentions the North Davis Church of Christ, also in Arlington:
Members of North Davis Church of Christ stunned the head of the Arlington Life Shelter last year when they raised $42,000 to support children’s services.
The donations were collected at an inaugural gala put on by church members to benefit the shelter’s youngest clients, who compose about a third of those served.
“When they come to us, they’re usually a year behind their peers in school because of all the moving around,” shelter Executive Director Becky Orander said at the time. “This will give us more learning tools to help them catch up.”
On Saturday (March 24), church members will host their second annual benefit for the children. The event, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., will include live entertainment, a silent auction, door prizes and a chef-prepared Mexican buffet.
Tickets are $30 each or $210 for a table of eight. Call 817 277-6347.
