The News-Journal in Longview, Texas, reports:
While Longview police search for the driver who killed a 28-year-old Kilgore mother in a hit-and-run accident Sunday evening, family members are reaching out in compassion, saying they forgive the person who took their loved one’s life.
“We want the person who was driving the car to know that we forgive them,” said Doc Turk, the victim’s father
“We aren’t angry that this happened to us because we believe that God knows when we are going to be born and when we are going to die. I think it was my daughter’s time.”
Tracey Turk was struck about 7 p.m. near the intersection of South Green and Young streets. Police said she failed to yield to traffic and was not in a crosswalk.
Doc Turk is a member of the Pine Tree Church of Christ in Longview, as was his daughter.

FeedbackThis is the story of all of us, our careless hit and run lives, before we knew Jesus, only concerned for ourselves. Before we were born again we never acknowledged that our sinful acts killed the only Son of God. God in the purest form of love allowed the life of His son to be forfieted and then forgave us. God bless and show mercy to this bereft father, Doc Turk who has demonstrated the love of His heavenly father. May his forgiveness reach the heart of the driver of the car and those who have not experienced God’s forgiveness.Susan OwingsNovember, 21 2010
