Teens fill Texas church after football games
Students enjoy food and fun at a Texas church after football games.
The Bay City Tribune in Texas reports:
When people say there’s nothing for kids to do in Bay City, Johnathan Dobbs, Nichols Street Church of Christ youth minister, doesn’t buy it.
He knows the statement isn’t true because he, along with an army of parents, volunteers and invested community members are the ones to provide a place for kids and teens to hang out, play games, eat food, win prizes and generally have a blast following every home football game.
They call it the Fifth Quarter party and although, it’s not a new concept in Bay City, the response from the community and student attendance to the first party Friday, Aug. 27 — over 400 kids — has seen a new vigor.
“This isn’t meant to be a Nichols Street Church of Christ fifth quarter party,” said Dobbs.
“It’s a community fifth quarter party.”
