Team targets teens in Czech Republic
Seven American Christians moved to the Czech Republic in Central Europe in October 2006.
Their goal — to share the story of Christ and help plant churches in Olomouc, a city of about 110,000 souls.
Three and a half years into their mission, the relationships they have built with the Czech people are resulting in spiritual questions — especially from teens, team member Corey Keen said.
Recently the team launched two spiritually focused conversation groups on Friday evenings.
Christie Shockley and a few young women from the Olomouc church lead a group geared toward teen girls. Mitch Anderson and Graham Kervin lead an introduction to the Bible and faith.
“What we are already experiencing through these opportunities is an outlet for teens to have a voice about what they believe, to share fears — feeling secure that they will not be judged or chastised,” Keen said. The missionary asked for prayers for the team’s outreach to teens.
“We know we are often the first people in their lives that are confronting them with the reality that they have a choice to make in life — to follow or to not follow Christ,” Keen said. “We do not take this lightly and need your help in lifting this ministry up to God.”
