Sweet Caroline! Church member, tribute artist ‘Black Diamond’ shines in Music City
Theron Denson, ‘had a dream, and it filled me with wonder’
Denson, who attends the Riverwood Church of Christ in Nashville, Tenn., performs as “Black Diamond: An Unreal Neil Diamond Experience.”
The native Missourian told the Tennessean that fellow church members at the Stadium Boulevard church, now the Riverwood congregation, used to tell him he sounded like the famous singer.
“After the 500th Caucasian person told me I sounded like Neil Diamond, I listened to ‘The Jazz Singer’ album,” he said.
The rest is history.
