Spotlight: Working and waiting in Windhoek

WINDHOEK, Namibia — Self-described “Mississippi boy” Nathan Holland and his wife Umoyo, a native of Zambia, are both living in a foreign land — and making it home.

The couple works with a mission team in the southern African nation of Angola.

After learning that their first child was on the way, they moved south to neighboring Namibia at their doctor’s recommendation to be closer to medical care not available in Angola.

As they wait for their baby, the Hollands work with 3Measures, a ministry focused on building faith communities among young adults, addressing physical, social and spiritual needs. Nathan Holland also teaches classes for the Wanaheda Church of Christ.

“This small-but-diverse congregation has members from Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ghana, Angola, and of course Namibia,” he said. “It has been a blessing to be able to serve with them.”
