Spotlight: Online teaching for remote South America

GEORGETOWN, Guyana — An internet distance-learning ministry helps Christians share the Gospel with remote villages in this small, South American nation.

Jerry L. CantrellThree years ago Teach Guyana Ministries launched its online effort, connecting with one location in the capital city of Georgetown, said director Jerry L. Cantrell. Now teachers send the message to 13 Churches of Christ, from the Linden congregation in northern Guyana to a village in the Courantyne area, near the country’s border with Suriname.

“We teach live lessons 23 times each week,” Cantrell said, including specialized classes for women’s and children’s ministry. “Our goal is to strengthen, mature and to help the churches grow.”

The Prattville Church of Christ in Alabama supports the work.
