Spotlight: Believing hurt her seeing
CHIANG MAI, Thailand — Witch doctors, fortune telling and the spirit world are all very real aspects of life for Thai people — especially a woman named Aim.
She earned a good income fortune telling — but was “intrigued to know more of the most powerful Spirit — the one who created everything,” said David Allen, who has helped plant churches in Thailand with his team since 1994.
She earned a good income fortune telling — but was “intrigued to know more of the most powerful Spirit — the one who created everything,” said David Allen, who has helped plant churches in Thailand with his team since 1994.
So Aim came to church “to see if she could get more power for herself,” he said. After a few visits, she told the church members that she had lost her power to communicate with spirits.
“She believes she can get the spirits back if she quits coming to church,” Allen said. “However, Aim has decided she would rather know more about God than to have her special powers and good salary. She is now making much less money selling handmade bags.”
