ZAPRESIC, Croatia — In 1990, this Central European nation conducted its first free elections in more than 50 years. That same year, a Croatian missionary, his Oklahoma-born wife and their three sons began gathering with a small group of friends and neighbors in their home to worship the Lord.
A quarter-century later, that group has grown into the
Zapresic Church of Christ. The missionaries, Ivan and Ruth Tesic, and fellow church members constructed a Christian Center — a place to worship and conduct community outreach.
The church hosts teams from
Let’s Start Talking, a ministry that helps non-native speakers improve their English using the Bible. Church members also operate an English Institute and kindergarten programs. The church publishes faith-based books and produces the
“Living Word” radio program — recently reformatted to appeal to a younger audience.
