Sign of the times in Munday, Texas
Bright white metal surrounds the red letters “Church of Christ,” which contrast boldly against the west Texas sky, advertising the location of the Munday church. The congregation of about 130 members applied new coats of paint to its four signs after seeing a photo of one of them in the August 2002 Chronicle.
The photo, in a Currents on rural churches, was chosen for the dynamic quality of the sky, but Munday church members noticed that the sign was getting a little rusty. “This turned out to be an exciting and enjoyable activity for this congregation,” minister W. Adrin Fletcher told the Chronicle March 4.
The refurbished signs “show what a small but active congregation can accomplish,” he said.
