YAMHILL, Ore. — Fifty-five participants from six states traveled to Camp Yamhill for the annual Expositor’s Seminar.

Rick Oster from Harding School of Theology in Memphis, Tenn., and Doug Peters from the Grace Crossing Church of Christ in Conroe, Texas, were the featured presenters.

Rick Oster from the Harding School of Theology in Memphis, Tenn., teaches at the Expositor’s Seminar.Peters taught four sessions on “Purposeful Preaching.” Oster presented four sessions on “The Calling Of Grace” from the Ephesians letter.

Organizers describe the Expositor’s Seminar as the only event of its kind for Churches of Christ in the Pacific Northwest.

“It is our desire to promote excellence in ministry, broaden and deepen our engagement with Scripture, provide support for and foster healthy ministry, and strengthen relationships among those who are committed to the cause of Christ,” said Mark Johnson, minister for the Olympia Church of Christ in Washington state.

Johnson directs the event along with Jay Hawkins, minister for the Caldwell Church of Christ in Idaho.

The seminar was started by Portland-area ministers in the 1980s. It continued under the direction of Cascade College through 2008.

“With the closure of Cascade College, there was still a strong desire to see the Expositor’s Seminar continue,” Johnson said.
