Saints celebrate summertime in the South Pacific
David Willis, a missionary in American Samoa, shared some summertime photos from the South Pacific U.S. territory recently. This week Churches of Christ in American Samoa host the sixth annual South Pacific Lectureship at the meeting place of the Nu’uuli Church of Christ.
The theme of this year’s lectureship is “Love: It’s not what you think,” taken from Romans 12:9-21. The guest speaker is Barry Pritchard, minister for the Lake Travis Church of Christ in Lakeway, Texas. Translating into the Samoan language is Tia Misa, an elder of the Tafuna Church of Christ in American Samoa. (See our recent feature on Misa’s conversion and ministry.)

Churches in American Samoa also sponsor Camp Alofa and a Vacation Bible School for kids.

FeedbackThis year’s lectureship was a great success. In addition to the regular lecture each evening, we added a daytime youth camp we called Camp Alofa. Between 40 and 50 youth attended each day focusing on “Learning to Live.” Dean Willis, Kristen Miller and Suria Jackson conducted a great VBS. Approximately 50 children attended each evening and learned about the love of Jesus. Barry Pritchard from the Lake Travis Church of Christ did an excellent job teaching about “Love: It’s Not What You Think…” from Romans 12:9-21. A big thank you to Bill Evans and Luaao Soli, Jr. for organizing the camp, Jerry and Cindy Southern from the Church of Christ in Littleton, Colorado and Bryan and Cheryl Christian from the Round Rock Church of Christ, as well as Barry Pritchard, Dean Willis and Kristen Miller for making the camp a big success.
