RoundUp: a camp for older Christians

YORK COLLEGE
RoundUp, an annual Bible camp for older Christians, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with 91 campers from eight states enjoying a week of fun and fellowship at York College in York, Neb. Wylene Baker and her late husband, Elmer, developed the idea for RoundUp, which saw about 25 participants its first year.
“The idea was to have something that ‘mature’ Christians could attend for an opportunity for fellowship and growth,” the York resident said. “It seemed like children and young people in the church had camps, but the older people didn’t have anything.”
RoundUppers get a taste of college life as they attend classes, live in the residence halls and eat in the cafeteria. Each day, there is a Bible class and a music class, plus a discussion on the theme, which this year revolved around pioneer author Willa Cather’s writings.
Faulkner hosts 12th annual EldersConnect
FAULKNER UNIVERSITY
Church leaders from across the nation met recently at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala., for a four-day gathering of speakers, fellowship and discussion.
The 12th annual EldersConnect drew about 120 elders and their wives, who shared experiences and sought advice from each other.
“The goal of the connection is to provide a comfortable atmosphere for these individuals to edify and encourage one another,” Faulkner spokeswoman Leigh Brannan said.
Faulkner also offered a similar seminar recently in the Los Angeles area.

Sermon seminar draws 115 preachers

AUSTIN GRADUATE SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY
Austin Graduate School of Theology’s 26th annual Sermon Seminar drew more than 115 ministers from 14 states — and Africa — to Texas, organizers said. Presenters included John Harp, Bruce McLarty, Curt Niccum, Tom Olbricht, Glen Pemberton and Jim Roberts, along with Allan McNicol and Michael Weed from the theology school.
“I believe this was one of our strongest seminars,” said Stan Reid, the theology school’s president. “Next year, we look forward to hosting the seminar in our new facilities.” All the presentations are available on CD. For more information, see www.austingrad.edu.
