Reader feedback: Survey responses sought on church outreach
OKLAHOMA CITY — The Church Relations Department of Oklahoma Christian University is circulating a survey among Churches of Christ throughout the U.S. seeking to gain information about how and why church members participate in evangelistic outreach.
The five-minute survey asks questions about how much time members spend in various types of church work, why they do not give more time to outreach and what type of encouragement would make them more likely to reach out to the lost.
More from the survey organizer Stafford North:
The survey will be open until mid-April at which time Oklahoma Christian will tabulate the results. They will publish the outcome so that all may learn from the survey.
Those conducting the survey hope that church members will participate, but even more, they hope that all who learn about the survey will encourage all the members of their congregation to participate. They could, for example, put a note in their bulletin with the link available or, even better, they could send an email to their membership list with a note about the survey and the link so members can access it.
Because of confidentiality, the results will not be available by congregation but will be available by section of the country.
Since this important research can help make the church more evangelistic, it is important for as many as possible to participate.
