The Tennessean reports:
Russ King grew up in Donelson Church of Christ. He went to kindergarten there and now works as the church life minister.
King is once again seeing his faith and education mesh in one of the church’s most recent projects as a PENCIL partner with McGavock Elementary School — a partnership successful enough to earn it the organization’s Bravo Award for its contributions. The PENCIL Foundation is a nonprofit that connects volunteers and organizations with the Metro Nashville schools they can help.
King said the best part about working with the children is the smiles. “It’s so fun to me when I walk into school, and see the kids waving and smiling and saying, ‘Hi Mr. Russ!’ There’s nothing like helping a child,” he said.

FeedbackDoes anyone know of similar programs in smaller communities (>50,000)? I know that there’s the need for such organization in urban, large-city settings, but there’s the need for such things in smaller communities as well.Barry WisemanMay, 29 2012
