President thankful for fire story
This is to express the sincere appreciation of all of us here at Southwestern Christian College for the extensive coverage on the disastrous fire on our campus in January that The Christian Chronicle gave to the college (Pages 1, 34, March).
This is to express the sincere appreciation of all of us here at Southwestern Christian College for the extensive coverage on the disastrous fire on our campus in January that The Christian Chronicle gave to the college (Pages 1, 34, March).
The story and the editorial were written well, and with great sensitivity and brotherly compassion. And the opportunity to help the college financially that you gave the readers of your paper is still generating most generous donations to the school in this time of institutional need.
The financial responses received by the college as a result of your articles in the Chronicle are truly demonstrative of the biblical maxim, “We be brethren.” And we, the beneficiaries of your kindness, will always remember your Christian spirit in our time of adversity. Please thank your readers on our behalf,
although we are sending to them individual expressions of appreciation.

Applause for divorce coverage
I would like to add my voice to those of many others, I’m sure, who will applaud your excellent article, “Churches minister to victims of divorce,” as well as your very insightful editorial on the same subject. As one who has been actively involved in divorce recovery ministry since 1991, it is so encouraging to see this vital coverage within our brotherhood with emphasis on the true message: “God hates divorce, but he still loves divorced people.”
While not compromising Scripture, we still need to exercise the utmost compassion and wisdom in comforting those whose lives have been shipwrecked, leaving them broken-hearted and drifting alone in a selfish and prideful world that could care less about their problems (and those of their children as well).
As Christians, one critical aspect of our mission in life is to meet the needs of others. Thank you for sounding the alarm to get more caring individuals involved in this ministry of grace and mercy toward separated and divorced individuals. After all, there’s one in almost every pew.

I am writing to say thank you for the recent article in the Chronicle on “victims of divorce” and the important related ministry. Also, the article on Florida College was very interesting. Thank you for your efforts to inform and inspire.

Florida College feature appreciated
I just read your Florida College article. I just wanted to tell you how well it was written and that I commend you for reaching out to bridge gaps. Reading your article brought back many memories — and yes, it all started with summer camps to Tampa.

Thank you for the very nice piece about Florida College, which I attended for three years before transferring to Abilene Christian University.

More details on Mexico ministry
I am an elder at the University Church of Christ in Las Cruces, N.M. I noticed your article of “Ministry of Mortar” about Rick Owens and his work with great interest (Page 19, April). I thought the article was well done. Thank you. I have put together a book with a lot of his newsletters and additional information. We also have a link to his work on our Web site.
