Pepperdine professor earns $200,000 teaching award
Stephen D. Davis, distinguished professor of biology at Pepperdine University, visits with biology majors Tony Shaver and Anjel Helms along the Dana Martell Trail on the Malibu, Calif., campus. Baylor University in Waco, Texas, has named Davis the 2008 recipient of the Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching.
The national award, which carries a $200,000 reward, recognizesexceptional teaching. Davis will teach in residence at Baylor in thefall semester. A member of the University church in Malibu, he said hewas “greatly honored and humbled” to receive the award.
