Parents of missionaries honored
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — They’re the unsung heroes of mission work, the ones who watch and pray as their children “move to far-flung parts of the world to further God’s mission — often taking the grandchildren with them,” said Beth Reese.

For that reason, organizers of the 2014 Global Missions Conference honored parents of missionaries, including Reese’s mother, Oleta Paden, “for her sacrifice in letting her daughter, four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren spend most of their lives on the mission field,” said Reese, a former missionary to Africa.

About 790 Christians participated in the conference, hosted by the Goodman Oaks Church of Christ and sponsored by World Bible School and Intermission. The conference featured sessions on church planting, missions among Latinos and Chinese, missionary care, culture shock and fundraising.
