In Escondido, Calif., The North County Times reports about the North County Church of Christ youth summer mission trip to Panama:
“The main goal was to help build up the churches in each of the cities we went to —- they were having a hard time evangelizing to people in the area, so in each city, we’d invite people to a gospel meeting,” Johnson explained.
In one city, El Cope, the local Church of Christ congregation consisted of six people, including the pastor and his wife.
The Escondido team arrived and started knocking on doors, and that night 50 people showed up to church, recalled 16-year-old Ellie Scott.
“Their church was just this four-walled building with a tin roof and no doors,” said Scott, who attends Calvin Christian High School in Escondido. “It was really moving to see that we could make a difference.”
