Uniting the church by inviting the youths
OKLAHOMA CITY — Youth groups representing 50 congregations in Oklahoma…
Oklahoma Christian University will soon offer 50 percent off tuition to members of Churches of Christ, the Oklahoma City school recently announced.
Rick Odell announces OC’s Heritage Scholarship during statewide youth worship night at Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Okla.
Beginning with the fall 2024 semester, OC’s new Heritage Scholarship will guarantee first-year students active at a Church of Christ receive half of their tuition costs when combined with other university scholarships.
The discount will be renewable for up to eight semesters of undergraduate studies.
“We’re grateful to honor OC’s strong relationship with Churches of Christ through this initiative,” said Associate Director of Church Relations Rick Odell, who announced the scholarship at Unite — a statewide youth worship night. “With this program, potential students from Churches of Christ will be afforded an exceptional opportunity to further foster connections to faith communities while pursuing their educational and professional goals.”
OC President Ken Jones noted the importance of Churches of Christ to the history and success of the university.
“This program is one way we can pay homage to that legacy and support church growth,” Jones said in a press release. “We also remain focused on our role as a ‘kingdom university’ recruiting and serving students from all faith backgrounds. We will continue to seek innovative ways to create an enduring path for Christian higher education.”
