The Fairborn Daily Herald in Ohio reports:
FAIRBORN — Members of Central Avenue Church of Christ do a lot of community outreach here in Fairborn, but once a year they travel to what seems like a whole other world to share their gospel teachings and help the less fortunate.
A group of nine Central Avenue members took an evangelistic mission trip to Mastape, Nicaragua from June 3-11, along with three others from places throughout the U.S.
Locals who went on the trip were minister Scott Spencer, deacon Vince Schmidt, Karl Kuwik, Matt Shouey, Don and Dee Pugh, Rhonda Walton and 16-year-old son Zach and Nancy Reynolds. They were joined by Austin Watts of Charlotte, N.C., and Rich Wells of Searcy, Ark.
“It was an incredible experience to teach the children and work with the adults who will pick up where we left off,” said Dee Pugh. “Sometimes, though, I think we learn far more from them than they learn from us.”
